The search is on for the UK New Zealander of the year

01JKNZTE_NZS_7168.1024x768The search is on for the  winner of the UK New Zealander of the Year 2015 Award. To celebrate, Kea and the New Zealand Society with Air New Zealand are giving you the chance to win two tickets to an upcoming New Zealand Society (UK) event.

Nominate someone for this Award and you will be eligible for entry to a Prize Draw to win two tickets to a New Zealand Society (UK) event. As part of the annual Waitangi Day celebrations, the New Zealand Society (UK) and Air New Zealand are again seeking nominations for this prestigious award.

The Award, which recognises the outstanding contribution that a New Zealand or British citizen has made in presenting “a positive image of New Zealand in the UK”, symbolises the continuation of the close relationship between the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

We are looking for Award nominees from a wide cross-section of the community. This may include those who are very much in the limelight to people who have devoted themselves to promoting New Zealand in the UK.

The New Zealander of the Year in 2014 is Eric Tracey, recognising his many contributions made to New Zealand trade/business, sporting and fundraising causes both in the UK and in New Zealand. Eric grew up in Auckland, and first came to the UK in 1973. In 1980 he became the first non-British partner in Touche Ross (Deloitte). He has been 12th man for the NZ cricket team in 2004 (and raised money for NZ and UK charities for doing so). He helped to create the UK branch of NZ Society of Accountants (NZICA), is Chair of UK Friends of Auckland University, Acting Chair Christchurch Earthquake Appeal UK, Former Chair NZTE European Beachheads Programme.

Previous winners include: Bronwen Horton, Kent Gardner, Terry Smith, Anna Hansen MBE, Esther Kerr Jessop QSM, Dr Ian Conrich, Jonathan Rennie, Tom & Susan Glynn, Peter Leslie, Dame Judith Mayhew Jones, The Rt. Hon Don McKinnon, (The late) Harry Mahon OBE, Michael Campbell CNZM, Sir Mark Todd and Peter Gordon ONZM.

Nominations close at midnight on GMT Sunday 30th November 2014 and the winner will be announced at the New Zealand Society (UK) Waitangi Day Charity Ball at The Park Lane Hotel, Piccadilly, London on Friday, 6th February 2015.

By making a nomination you will be eligible to enter a Free Prize Draw for a pair of tickets to any New Zealand Society event held between March and November 2015 (inclusive).
