Goodenough-WideGoodenough College is a postgraduate academic community and educational trust based around Mecklenburgh Square in Bloomsbury. The College is an international residential centre for postgraduates studying or training in London. There are some 700 students resident at the College, from over 90 different countries representing every academic and professional institution in the capital. The College also owns the Goodenough Club providing 4 star guest accommodation for a wide range of clients.

Goodenough College is nearing the end of a major refurbishment programme involving its principal buildings and costing some £40 million. With an estate valued at around £160 million, there is an ambition to deliver further commercial value from the College’s buildings and facilities.  By financial year 2015/16 total annual income will be in excess of £10 million, with an expectation of further growth. This is an exciting time to join this wonderful institution and play a key role in ensuring its ongoing and future success.

The Role

  • Lead the College’s Finance, Estates and Commercial teams, ensuring effective financial management and control, the maintenance of first class estates and income generation via appropriate commercial activities.
  • Develop and deliver viable long term strategies for all of the above areas, ensuring that relevant synergies and efficiencies exist between them and that they complement the College’s overall strategic plan.
  • As Company Secretary, ensure good governance and as a member of the College Executive, assist the Director in the corporate leadership of the College.

The Person

  • CCAB qualified accountant with a sharp intellect and an outstanding track record of senior financial management, ideally with some understanding of strategic estates management.
  • Whether from private, not-for-profit or public sectors, candidates will be commercially-minded; effective leaders and managers, they will be able to develop trust and respect with colleagues and partners at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clear empathy with the ethos, values and purpose of the education sector.
