If you are eligible for your Australian citizenship, apply before 1 January 2016 when the fee increases from $260 to $325.
Children aged under 18 and adults aged 60 plus will continue to pay $130 but with the Australian Department of Immigration currently reviewing all citizenship fees, further price increases may follow later in 2016.
Apply online to avoid the $80 non-internet fee; unless you are a Protected Special Category Visa holder. Protected SCVs – Kiwis who arrived between 1 September 1994 and 26th February 2001 – can’t apply online as they do not have a visa number.
Start the process by submitting your application, then supply your supporting documents e.g. NZ penal clearance as you receive them.
By applying before 1 January you’ll pay the current fee of $260.
NOTE – No criminal convictions are ‘spent’ when applying for citizenship. You must declare ALL criminal convictions. Failure to declare a conviction, regardless of how minor or historical, will see your application declined.
