Launch for more female entrepreneurs in NZ

Untitled 2Lightning Lab is New Zealand’s premier business accelerator. Our next programme in Wellington focuses on women-led companies (meaning, at least one co-founder is a woman). The purpose of the programme is to discover, accelerate and invest in exceptional women and the companies they run. The accelerator will provide the right environment for female founders to thrive through the challenge of starting a company while being supported by a diverse lineup of world-class role models, coaches and mentors.

1 : Refer a female-led startup – Know of a venture with a female founder that has high growth potential? Have them apply by Dec 18th or introduce the founder to LL XX Programme Director Laura Reitel at

2: Become a mentor – This could be either on ad hoc basis (3-4 hours total) around your specific expertise only or by “adopting” a team and working with them throughout the 3-month programme (i.e spending ~2-3h every week to help the startup either in person or remotely). If interested, please fill out a quick mentor form

3: Engage as a speaker – Come tell us about your own lessons learned, give useful tips on your specific domain expertise area or how to deal with confidence-related issues and thriving in a male-dominated business world. Inspirational stories encourage us all. Email

4: Help us find sponsors – Any introductions or ideas around organizations who would be keen to sponsor this programme would be great! We’ve got a few national sponsors already – Spark and Microsoft Ventures, but are seeking others who would be well aligned with the goals for the female founders specific programme. Please email

5: Become a founding investor – We are looking to round up about 10-15 angels and venture groups who collectively help us raise a seed fund of $200,000. The newly formed LLP then makes $20,000 seed investments into each selected startup at the beginning of the programme in exchange of 4% of equity in each company. If you’re keen to join the likes of Arc Angels and Annette Presley, please get in touch with or fill in an investor form
