THE-WAREHOUSE_logoThe Warehouse Group is a $3bn truly iconic New Zealand company comprised of retail, online and finance related businesses. They are seeking a highly capable Group Chief Financial Officer to partner with the Chief Executive and their senior management team to deliver sustained and above market growth for the business.

  • Auckland, New Zealand Based
  • Large, iconic, publicly listed NZ company
  • Strategic, Highly Commercial Role
  • Multi-Channel Retail

Over the last two years the business has, through organic growth and significant acquisitions, transformed from a traditional store based retailer into a broader multi-channel business with a strong online presence. The business operates a number of leading brands in the New Zealand market such as The Warehouse, The Warehouse Stationary, Noel Leeming and Torpedo 7 and has recently also acquired a financial services company which will provide the core of a new offering for customers.

The business has solid momentum in the market and the Chief Executive is seeking a true strategic finance professional who will work with the business units to drive performance, manage risk and leverage the opportunities provided by the Group’s scale. Exposure to working within a complex, large scale setting is crucial, along with the confidence and wider business acumen to be a central member of the organisation’s executive team. The Chief Executive demands a non-hierarchical culture where the ability to collaboratively solve problems are more important than status. This Group Chief Financial Officer will be an active participant in, and add value to, that culture.

The organisation is particularly interested in speaking to senior finance leaders who have had exposure to managing large businesses with group structures. While public company CFO experience level would be advantageous, the acuity and executive presence to successfully represent the company from an investor relations perspective is essential. An understanding of the drivers of cost, robust analytical skills and expertise in risk management are all important capabilities for this appointee.

The Warehouse is eager to see applicants from retail or multichannel companies, although those with a blended experience with backgrounds possibility incorporating sectors such as utilities, telecommunications, financial services or large scale consumer products would be of interest.  The appointee will certainly have relevant tertiary and professional qualifications.

This is one of the most high profile finance roles in New Zealand and it will prove a definitive career move for a high calibre finance executive. To apply on a strictly confidential basis, please submit your Curriculum Vitae to cv@seqelpartners.com quoting reference number 2500.
