Jane, who hails from Chengdu in China’s South-Western province of Sichuan, immigrated to New Zealand at a young age and attended St Andrews College in Christchurch before moving to Auckland to study Mathematics at the University of Auckland.
In 2011 Jane and husband Simon Page founded The New Zealand Milk Bar, which is now the only New Zealand dairy company with a dedicated retail network in China.
“New Zealand is the largest foreign supplier of dairy commodity to China yet the supply chain for value added products has remained incomplete,” says Jane.
The couple’s China company acts as importer and exclusive distributor for Biopure (Biopure Health) products to the stores, enabling greater control and allowing more value to be captured across the entire supply chain.
After three years of development, The New Zealand Milk Bar has retail stores in eight provinces, with Yunnan and Guizhou as the ninth and 10th provinces to follow after Biopure signed agreements with new partners there on a recent business delegation led by NZ Consul-General to Chengdu, Mr Alistair Crozier. Biopure Health recently gained approval from the China National Certification Authority (CNCA) to continue exporting its Infapure formula brand to China under new regulations.
The company plans to establish 1,000 retail stores and outlets by 2017.
