The Innovation Islands tech recruitment campaign is midway through and the response is looking excellent – the website currently has more than 90 Kiwi tech companies advertising in excess of 350 IT roles, and almost 1,500 job applications have already been received.
Immigration New Zealand’s Attraction, Settlement and Protection General Manager Steve McGill says the government recognises the tech sector’s need to attract top talent to grow. “Attracting Kiwi ICT expertise back to New Zealand is important to us, but we also welcome talented Australians and other nationals who are looking for a new challenge to join us across the ditch,” he says.
Workhere Managing Director Jonny Wyles says the company has developed the campaign to give people an idea of what it is like to work in the New Zealand tech industry. “New Zealand really is a breeding ground for new thinking and today is at the forefront of the industry because of the technologies themselves – software development and cloud-based business models – that make it possible to deliver work from anywhere in the world,” Wyles says.
The Innovation Islands campaign runs until the end of October – if you are a Kiwi expat working in the tech sector in Australia (or know someone who is), click here to see the companies involved and the career opportunities available.
