Although most of New Zealand’s tertiary students will be focusing on pushing through their last semester and the rest of the winter, now is the time to prepare for the summer break and apply for the Kiwi Landing Pad’s Winternz program.
The Kiwi Landing Pad is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for high achieving IT and Marketing students to complete a 12 week paid internship with Pertino Networks, or Contrast Security in Silicon Valley during the NZ summer break and the US winter.
Beyond expanding their capabilities and putting their learning into action, the students will gain an insiders understanding on how Silicon Valley operates to produce success.
The Winternz program brings New Zealand undergraduate students to Silicon Valley for 12 week internships over the New Zealand summer. In December 2013, World Class New Zealander Craig Elliot brought 3 students to work at the company he founded: Pertino Networks, in Los Gatos.
Learning fuels tech development, and in Silicon Valley, the idea of sharing knowledge is strong. Bringing Kiwi tech whiz kids to the other side of the Pacific is part of a bigger plan to strengthen the global IT community. Students are assigned to specific teams with opportunities/projects that will directly contribute to the company. Mentors provide Winternz with the support they need to become integral parts of their teams. Interns and employees alike learn tremendously from the exchanges that occur during the internship period.
This year, Winternz will be expanding to more Silicon Valley based technology companies, and will include both software development and marketing internships.
If you are a company that would like to be involved in the 2014-2015 Winternz program, please send an email to Winternz@klp.org.nz for more information.
Applications close August 15. For more information visit kiwilandingpad.com.
