Port Operations Manager

In New Zealand, Babcock operates one of the country’s leading mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering facilities, managing the Devonport Dry Dock on behalf of the Royal New Zealand Navy and providing engineering support services to the NZ Defence Force (NZDF) and the commercial shipping industry.
Reporting to the Head of Maintenance and leading a team, you will have responsibility for Port Operations at the Devonport Naval Base in Auckland. Associated activities include managing fuel operations, warehousing, transport and rigging services which deliver services to the Port as well as general maintenance operations within the Dockyard.
Your substantial experience as a senior Sea-going Officer, Port Manager or Harbour Master will enable you to safely direct port movements for both Navy and commercial vessels. A working knowledge of statute and local body legislation applicable to a maritime Port facility in New Zealand will be essential, as will your qualification as an Approved Handler of Hazardous Substances for oversight of fuelling operations.
Critical to your success will be your ability to manage conflicting priorities, make good decisions in a timely manner, and successfully lead a team focused on service delivery.
You will ideally have management experience with full accountability for financial performance.
