This is a full time permanent position, commencing 17 November 2014 (preceded by a paid five day handover with the incumbent: 1014 November 2014).
The New Zealand Defence Attaché’s Office (NZDAO) is responsible for the conduct of military-to-military coordination between the New Zealand Defence Force and the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China. The office is headed by the New Zealand Defence Attaché, supported by the Defence Office Manager and the Defence Driver.
The Defence Office Manager is a key appointment within the NZDAO and is responsible for providing the office management function, inclusive of administrative, secretarial, financial, information management, office organisation and events coordination services.
In addition, 20% of the job function involves the provision of Personal Assistant support to the New Zealand Embassy Deputy Head of Mission.
Your previous experience in an office environment in a complex organisation along with your effective communication skills will be called upon daily when performing your duties in Beijing’s multinational military and diplomatic environment. Your high level of computer literacy and excellent Microsoft Office suite ability will be essential to your success when undertaking various esponsibilities. Time management, cashbook accounting and working within a team environment will also be key attributes that you will possess.

Please note: Applicants must be New Zealand citizens who are able to obtain and maintain the required level of New Zealand Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the New Zealand Defence Force is as follows:
• Most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years.
• Applicants who have not resided in New Zealand for the majority of the last 5 years will be unlikely to obtain the required security clearance.
If you do not meet this minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
