Brisbane is a diverse and energised global city with a $114 billion economy. With a growing number of New Zealand businesses seeking to enter this growing market, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE) has created a brand new role to build an exciting platform for NZ companies to springboard from.
NZTE has one simple purpose – to help New Zealand businesses grow internationally – bigger, better, faster – for the benefit of New Zealand. They thrive on providing our customers with world-class advice on how to expand internationally and help build the capability they need to succeed on the world stage.
NZTE are looking for a seasoned Business Development Manager to join their Australia/Pacific team and make an impact in the Queensland market.
You will proactively support our new and existing customers to develop and execute their growth plans, providing strategic introductions, market analysis and research. You will also identify potential in-market partners, help develop new channels to market and identify potential growth opportunities.
You will have strong knowledge of the Australian marketplace and some knowledge of Papua New Guinea would also be useful, as would a background in oil and gas and/or infrastructure.
The role will require the ability to forge new connections and champion the way NZTE engages with and benefits its customers. As such, an unwavering commitment to the customer is essential, as is the commercial acumen to empathise with the challenges companies face in entering and extending within the market.
Working from a satellite office in Brisbane and reporting to the Trade Commissioner in Sydney, you’ll be a pro-active self starter and comfortable working remotely.
In exchange for your strong business acumen, you’ll be exposed to a broad cross section and scale of business, undertake varied and interesting work and have the ability to work creatively as part of a global organisation with offices around the world.

Applications close Sunday 15 November 9pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard time)/ 11pm NZ time.
