Who we are:

Our purpose is to grow New Zealand companies internationally – bigger, better, faster – for the good of New Zealand. It is an exciting time to be part of the Digital team at NZTE – we are ready to accelerate the rate of digital innovation to our customers and our people. Our technology is good, it needs to be with our customers (NZ businesses going global) and you will be proud to work in a team that supports NZTE’s technology and innovation. We use our process to get things done but we are not burdened by it – we do things that make a difference and have genuine impact. This means we are innovative, enjoy exploring and move fast!

What you’ll be doing:

You will be the UX Design “go to” for NZTE with design passion and vision – this role has loads of variety where you will own the design process from inception to execution. Our team has a strong sense of purpose and the work that you do is commercially relevant – you get the best of both worlds here!  You will be the strategic design leader for our customer facing digital presence working on our websites and customer portal – our most important digital experience here at NZTE! You will work collaboratively with a wide range of people, from product owners to other creative teams at NZTE translating concepts into user flows, wireframes and prototypes and final UI designs that lead to intuitive user experiences.

We’ve made some great decisions and progress so far on our digital journey, but we have a way to go still and you will get to be part of the decision making as we move forward. You will hit the ground running on our key digital product and as we are a fairly new design and development team, you will have the opportunity to make your mark and help shape the growth of your role and our team!

What you’ll need to be successful:

With at least 5 years’ experience as a design professional, you will be a hands-on designer who has worked with Sketch, Invision and Zeplin, knowledge of Framer or Atomic would be great too! You will have a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design as well as designing and delivering wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and development ready files optimised for a wide range of devices and interfaces.

You will be ambitious – this role is just the start of your UX career here! Career development is an important part of working at NZTE and we will help you with your aspirations and work with you to get you there – being a learning environment that encourages adventure and experimentation, what better place to grow your career!

Why you’ll love working here:

NZTE is a truly global organisation where we work across different time zones and offer flexibility because of this. We know that life isn’t all about work so we will give you the right technology to allow you to work anywhere and balance your time. Work life balance is important to us - our position is if it’s good for you, it’s good for the team and it’s good for NZTE - we see it as a benefit. On top of this, we also offer 5 weeks annual leave so you can have that extra time in the year to enjoy what you love doing!

A country embracing its diverse landscapes and even greater diversity of its people. At NZTE it’s all about the people. We work flexibly and we’re keen to talk to you about what that might mean for you in this role. We’re deeply connected to the diversity of our people across the globe and embrace how that drives our organisation and the country forward.
