About The Position:

Strategic role responsible for driving the Scapegrace Distilling Co portfolio of premium spirits across the US market and continuing to build on the early traction the brand has already received over the past 18 months.

Scapegrace Distilling Co is the fastest growing independent spirits company in New Zealand with a premium awarding winning spirits portfolio covering gin, vodka and single malt whisky. Our mission is to take New Zealand’s finest range of spirits to the world and build a global premium spirits company. We are currently exporting to over 40 countries spanning all corners of the world. Scapegrace Gin is the 2018 winner of the worlds best London dry gin trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London.

Scapegrace Gin launched in the US around 18 months ago with our national importer 375 Park Avenue Spirits, a subsidiary of Sazerac Company. We are currently trading across 25 states working with Southern Glazers, RNDC and Breakthru among others and the brand has been well received. 

Due to this significant opportunity for Scapegrace in the US market we are looking to add a USA National Sales Director to the team responsible for driving our business development across the USA.

The Role:

The role of USA National Sales Director is a newly established position within the company, and one of great importance to our ongoing success as New Zealand’s leading premium spirits company. We have a clear vision which we are currently executing to be a significant player within the global spirits industry. 

The position will report into the Managing Director and the successful candidate will be based remotely from his/her home office. 

 It is expected that the person will take ownership and manage the sales function throughout the region to ensure brand sales targets are met within pre-assigned budgets on time.

The key focus on the role will be to:

  • Meet and exceed assigned sales targets which will be developed annually 
  • Build points of distribution and establish an extensive base of key contacts across the region both within the on and off-trade channels 
  • Work with our nominated import partners across the region to win their trust and loyalty so that we become a preferred partner to work with across their wider portfolio
  • Monitor and manage the marketing spend across our import partners to ensure it is in line with depletions within the market
  • Manage brand pricing effectively and where relevant make appropriate recommendations to the management team
  • Deliver against pre-assigned KPI’s to ensure ongoing brand success in the market

 

The Person:

We are looking for somebody who is a natural deal maker and a leader in his or her field. Someone who can hit the ground running and who is not afraid to challenge the status quo in order to elevate our sales across this region to new levels. You will be a highly capable professional player who has sound moral values and understands the importance of trust and integrity across the work place.

 

We seek an individual with extensive experience in working within a commercial role across the premium spirits industry; both within the on and off-trade channels who is able to converse comfortably with team members across all levels of the business.

A high level of business acumen will be needed, in order to succeed within this role, as well as an insatiable desire to maximize our sales revenue across the region using the tools available.

You will be a confident and articulate self-starter who enjoys building excellent relations across the field and knows how the get the job done.
