New Zealand

Work type:

NZTE works with some of New Zealand's most forward thinking companies, helping them grow internationally bigger, better, faster. We are looking for a new Trade Commissioner based in Los Angeles, to drive winning strategies for New Zealand companies within North America.

The Trade Commissioner, Los Angeles, will manage a team that works closely with customers in North America to help them grow bigger, better and faster.  Promoting New Zealand's commercial interests and supporting New Zealand companies to access and develop business opportunities is integral to the role.  You will work closely with the Regional Director, North America, and play a senior role in the North American Leadership Team, implementing NZTE's strategic goals across the region.

We are looking for a confident and commercially savvy leader who can support both direct reports and our customers (NZ companies).  You'll know how to lead a team and lift capability to the next level.   You'll bring mana and an innate credibility and presence - seamlessly connecting with business networks and other off-shore NZ government organisations in support of NZ Inc.

The ideal applicant will have a track-record in coaching high-performing teams, a background in delivering results and excel in an environment of rapid change and broad remit. You must be comfortable working with ambiguity, a consummate executor and an excellent public speaker. The role requires a confident communicator with the ability to listen and understand the needs of different audiences. Commercial experience in the US with a good knowledge of New Zealand is preferred.

Tell us how and why you will help New Zealand businesses continue to forge their paths in North America and support key in-market sectors with an intensive customer-focused approach.

To apply, you must be an NZ citizen, or have eligibility to work in the US.

The expected start date for induction into this position is late-November 2018 and the role is for a minimum of 3 years.  This is an official representative role and the preferred candidate will be subject to a number of vetting processes, including NZ national security clearance.
