NZTE works with some of New Zealand's most forward thinking companies, helping them grow internationally bigger, better, faster.

We are looking for our next Trade Commissioner based in Melbourne to drive winning strategies for New Zealand companies within the Australia/Pacific region.

Our Trade Commissioner manages a team that works with customers in Melbourne and across Australia to seek even larger opportunities.  Promoting New Zealand's commercial interests and supporting New Zealand companies to access and develop business opportunities is integral to the role.  You'll be part of the Australia/Pacific Leadership team, implementing NZTE's strategic goals across the region.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is confident and commercially savvy leader who can support their team and NZ companies.
  • Will know how to lead a team and lift capability to the next level.
  • Will bring mana and an innate credibility and presence
  • Will seamlessly connect with business networks and other off-shore NZ government organisations in support of NZ Inc.

The ideal applicant will have a track-record in coaching high-performing teams, a background in delivering results and excel in an environment of rapid change and broad remit. You must be comfortable working with ambiguity, a consummate executor and an excellent public speaker. The role requires a confident communicator with the ability to listen and understand the needs of different audiences. Commercial expertise with an international focus is mandatory.

Tell us how and why you will help New Zealand businesses continue to forge their paths in Australia and support key in-market sectors with an intensive customer-focussed approach.

This is also a Consul General role and the successful candidate must be a New Zealand citizen. This is an official representative role and the preferred candidate will be subject to a number of vetting processes, including Australian Government approval.

The expected start date for induction into this position is mid-July 2018 and the role is for a minimum of 3 years.

Applications close Sunday 25 March 8pm (NZ time) / 6pm AEST.
