The New Zealand High Commission in the Cook Islands has a vacancy for a Development Programme Coordinator or Senior Development Programme Coordinator. The successful applicant will join a team of people managing New Zealand’s aid programme across sectors including water and wastewater, education, health, tourism and public sector strengthening.
The successful applicant will have project management experience in development, business, government or civil society, including planning, financial management, monitoring and evaluation. A relevant tertiary qualification is essential.
The applicant must have a high standard of written and oral communication skills, including the ability to confidently present to an audience on complex issues. This person must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including government officials, interest groups, contractors, and other donors.
They will be able to effectively prioritise and organise their own workload around competing priorities and be able to quickly develop new ways of working, including new processes and systems. They will be required to work independently without close supervision and must be able to work effectively in a team and have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate sound judgement.
The successful applicant will be employed on local terms and conditions and must have the right to work in the Cook Islands. Any offer of employment is subject to the grant of a work permit by Cook Islands Immigration. In addition any relocation to Rarotonga or accommodation requirements are to be undertaken at the expense of the applicant.
