With your level of experience in rural medicine, emergency medicine or general practice, there’s not much you don’t know about how it works away from the main centres. What you might not have experienced, however is a lifestyle that allows you to be on the beach, in the hills or kayaking on the water five minutes after finishing work for the day. On the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, we are looking for the right person to work with our rural hospital medicine team.
Some of the core functions of the role include:
- Covering the Emergency Department and supporting the junior workforce within the ED; undertake fracture clinic work.
- Providing paediatric cover in partnership with tertiary paediatric services from CDHB; recent neonate resuscitation will be required or can be arranged.
- Managing non-operative orthopaedic patients and ward rounds in partnership with CDHB orthopaedic specialists
The right person will be someone who loves the work they do, enjoys a challenge, and who absolutely loves the idea of working in a small, vibrant community and getting out into the great outdoors. You will be a member of a focused interdisciplinary team of health professionals providing a range of medical, health care of the elderly and surgical care, and you will have excellent clinical support from other specialists over the hill in Ashburton and Christchurch.
We think you will enjoy working in a health system that is truly integrated and is supported by strong connections with tertiary and primary care. Here, we do it all - a comprehensive range of inpatient, day patient, outpatient and community based services. If you are ready for an enviable lifestyle in one of New Zealand’s rural communities, where you can personally see the difference you make, we are ready for you. This is our back yard, make it yours.
