The opportunity has arisen for a skilled people leader to join their team to lead the Council’s Building Control and Environmental Health activities to ensure that Council policies, aims and objectives are met. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer you will be responsible for leading a team to effectively manage the Council’s Building Control, Environmental Health, Regulatory strategy, policies and procedures. This is a new position with a strong focus on customer service and enablement. You will participate in the strategic leadership of the service as a member of the executive team and will be part of a team who is committed to “making it happen” within the Westland community.
Your Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding of Council regulatory responsibilities and will have good general knowledge of the building industry legislation, policies and procedures. Being a strong people leader you will have managed and led teams in the past and will have experience role modelling effective leadership and a positive workplace culture.
You will have a relevant qualification and at least three year’s experience in a similar role or can demonstrate capability through a related role. In addition, your exceptional communication, computer literacy, stakeholder management and relationship building skills, will be crucial to your success.
