Are you looking for a challenging, programme management role in electricity distribution?

Aurora Energy Limited is New Zealand’s sixth-largest electricity distributor delivering electricity supply to more than 85,500 homes and businesses throughout Dunedin and Central Otago.  The business owns the electricity network assets ensuring that the network is effectively planned, constructed, operated and maintained. Aurora’s sister company, Delta, is a diverse contracting and infrastructure services business based in Dunedin with operations reaching across the South Island.

This key role, which reports to the Chief Technology Officer, will lead and deliver a current programme of work encompassing SCADA replacement to GE PowerOn Fusion, OMS implementation, control room upgrades including GIS links, associated communications across fibre, microwave and radio and implementation across two geographical regions in Otago.  Responsibility will be across multiple dependent and interdependent projects and will also include defining and scoping the next stages of the programme.

We have particular interest in experienced local and overseas based SCADA programme/project managers with backgrounds either in electricity transmission/distribution or generation ideally with knowledge of communications networks and GIS.  Candidates will be skilled at communicating across all stakeholders, coordinating multiple, interdependent activity streams and acting decisively to deliver identified business outcomes.  A thorough understanding of modern project/programme management methodology together with strong, current knowledge of performance evaluation and change management techniques are essential requirements.

With Aurora Energy in a period of significant change, the Programme Manager will play a critical role in improving the management of Aurora’s electricity network in Otago.  This appointment will initially be for a 12 month period.  Strong performance in this position may lead to future opportunities to extend the scope of this position into new areas of distribution operations.
