Pacific and Development Group
- Sector leadership on Energy
- Lead programme strategy, design and delivery
- Senior-level stakeholder management
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the New Zealand Aid Programme’s Energy work, a flagship priority for the Aid Programme.
As the Ministry’s most senior energy specialist, you will develop and deliver an ambitious Asia-Pacific renewable energy and energy access programme, from strategy and policy development through to activity implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
The Aid Programme supports sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and contribute to a more secure, equitable and prosperous world. It is managed by development specialists in the Pacific and Development Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
You will lead energy work, working with national, regional and multilateral teams across the Ministry, other New Zealand Inc. agencies, and a variety of other external partners in New Zealand and overseas to deliver energy sector activities that achieve results on the ground.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in the delivery of energy-focused projects, ideally in the context of Development policy and strategy. You will be a strategic and conceptual thinker and a natural leader who is comfortable managing a variety of stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to represent the Ministry and influence at a senior level. You will be a self-starter and strategic thinker who is agile with decision-making. You will bring a network of relationships in the energy sector, both in New Zealand and overseas. Your ability to influence new ideas, coach, share knowledge and work cooperatively within and across teams will be critical to your success. If you relish an environment which is complex, high profile, and often time critical then you will enjoy the challenges faced in this role.
Please note you must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate government security clearance.
