Within a rapidly changing operating environment we have a great opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced Principal Civil Engineer (or Senior Civil Engineer looking to take the next step) to join a busy engineering team. Hamilton is our preferred location however the role can be based in Auckland or Tokaanu Power Station (Turangi, Taupo District).  This is a demanding role with a wide remit.  As Principal you will provide the technical authority and leadership for civil generation assets across all generation sites as well as providing expert advice and support.  In addition you will be the technical lead for the delivery of projects.

Your role will primarily focus on operational support to the generation business, developing, implementing and reviewing asset management strategies, monitoring the performance of civil assets, technical lead and support through the asset lifecycle, monitor regulatory compliance and represent Genesis Energy at industry forums.  In addition you will co-ordinate or conduct preparation of reports and engineering studies, monitor statutory verifications and testing as well as maintaining all relevant documentation.

We’re looking for the right fit for our organisation. You must have a relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering. You should be a well-rounded engineer capable of demonstrating broad experience with a minimum of 10 years working in heavy civil-industrial engineering.  Experience in the generation/heavy construction sectors with civil design and asset management skills is preferred.  Structural/seismic, hydraulic or dam safety skills would be highly regarded.  Along with core competencies you should be comfortable working at all levels in the business, possess excellent written and oral communication skills and proven analytical skills.
