Founded in 1903 by the Marist Brothers, Sacred Heart College is now established as one of New Zealand’s leading boys’ schools. This Catholic College is built on the strong values and educational philosophy of St Marcellin Champagnat. Due to the incumbent Principal announcing his retirement, Sacred Heart is now looking to appoint an experienced and inspirational leader to continue to build on the success of the College. The Principal’s role is focused on developing and executing strategy whilst ensuring the College continues to innovate and provide pre-eminent educational, cultural and sporting opportunities through astute leadership. Family Spirit and a deep and caring culture are fundamental to the College and its wider community. A robust bond exists between past and present students and the position will be responsible for fostering these significant relationships both within New Zealand and overseas.

Superior communication, influencing abilities and strong relationship building skills are key criteria for the position. Understanding the vital role of a nurturing Boarding Hostel in the everyday life of the College will be essential to this role.
As a Catholic College this position is Tagged. A willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the Special Character of the College shall be a condition of appointment.
