Oceania Meat Processors Ltd process and sell pet food ingredients to secondary producers of pet food products in the local and international markets. Their processing plants in Timaru (New Zealand) and Melbourne (Australia) provide close proximity to many export licensed major meat plants from where raw material is sourced. Oceania Meat Processors utilise the latest processing equipment to provide the global pet food industry with high quality ingredient products.
Based in Timaru and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this senior leadership role is responsible for the management, planning and success of the production functions and processing plants located in Timaru and Melbourne. This role will contribute towards production strategy and be primarily responsible for overseeing the achievement of production targets, product quality and ensuring the safety and efficiency of the production team. You will look for process improvements, drive change and innovation, with full accountability for the profitability of the production functions. You will also make contributions to other aspects of the business including freight and logistics, sales and operational planning and be involved in various project work.
Your Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have a strong commercial acumen, relevant qualifications and previous production management experience, ideally managing a team within a food processing plant or similar. You will have good knowledge of continuous improvement programmes, quality initiatives to ensure manufacturing functions comply with HSE legislation, and ideally some project management experience. Equally important are the necessary skills and experience to effectively manage and motivate the team so they perform at their best.
