Multi Use Arena
A company is being formed by the Christchurch City Council to build the state of the art 25,000 seat Multi Use Arena, located within the heart of Christchurch City. It is envisaged enabling works will commence in 2020, construction in 2021 and completion by 2024.
This is a unique opportunity for suitably experienced and passionate candidates to work on a significant project helping re-establish Christchurch as a sporting and cultural capital while boosting the city’s economy by attracting visitors from around New Zealand and the world.
Expressions of interest from potential Directors for the inaugural Board of the Multi Use Arena are being sought. To succeed in this unique opportunity, you will have governance experience, be a strategic thinker and an active participant around the Board table, with a solid appreciation of project governance best practice.
The company is seeking skill diversity on its Board, with a preference given to candidates with experience and credibility in some or all of the following areas:
- Project governance
- Major project delivery
- Arena design
- Risk expertise including financial, legal and/or procurement
- City planning and design
- Commercial advisory
- Stakeholder Management
- Sustainability and sustainable development
- Chair experience
In addition, you will be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders along with an appreciation of the importance of the project for the city and its high profile nature.
