Are you looking for a challenging management role within a growth focused transport business?                                                             

McNeill was established as a Southland based business in 1918 and is part of the KGR Group.  McNeill’s roots were largely forged in the drilling and pumping business but in recent years the company has expanded significantly into the transport sector.  The business provides safe, reliable land transport solutions to a wide range of Lower South Island based clients utilising modern, technology focused equipment and friendly, highly experienced drivers.   These solutions include log cartage, bulk haulage, chip liners, container transport and crane truck services.  Exciting plans are in place to continue the recent growth in their transport business. 

Reporting to the General Manager this role will be responsible for the ongoing development and efficient operation of McNeill’s Transport Division ensuring that the business achieves its financial targets and wider business goals.  The Transport Manager will play a key role in maximising the potential of the Division, leading and mentoring supporting staff, championing a safety first culture and ensuring that optimal efficiency and productivity are achieved across the transport fleet.  Other key responsibilities include wider staff leadership and management, developing business with current and new clients, fleet compliance management, health & safety and human resource management. 

To succeed in this position you will have proven senior or operational management experience in a relevant transport/logistics business demonstrating the ability to successfully achieve challenging financial and growth targets.  It is expected that candidates will have strong business acumen and the ability to develop and maintain effective client relationships.  You will have a modern leadership style including the ability to positively influence staff and “get things done”.  Candidates will be able to demonstrate presence and credibility within the business through their effective communication and advanced interpersonal skills.  An understanding of the forestry industry would be highly beneficial.

This is a senior level position which is expected to be of interest to both experienced senior transport/logistics managers and proven operations managers looking to make the step up.  It will provide ongoing challenge and satisfaction as the business continues to grow.  Strong performance in this role is likely to open up career development opportunities within the wider business.
