This is an exciting time to join NZTE! The Investment Team is on a growth journey, gearing-up to deliver catalytic domestic opportunities with global connections. Our "Investment Way" strategy is focused on attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into New Zealand, originating Greenfield investment opportunities and supporting New Zealand companies in attracting investment.

The role of Investment Director is a senior management position reporting directly to the General Manager - Investment. The position plays a critical role in the Investment Leadership Team and is a key connector between the Domestic Investment team and International Investment team. The challenge will be to lead, manage and develop a highly engaged group of Investment Managers, Analysts and Associates across client Investment Readiness or Investment Attraction to further develop a world class value add investment service, including the following:

  • Providing inspirational and empowering leadership
  • Driving integrated stakeholder engagement and workflows
  • Originating domestic deals of scale and quality and connecting to global investors
  • Influencing and hosting investment events across the capital raising community
  • Building collaboration with NZTE Customer teams
  • Undertake a significant amount of domestic travel

This role offers a unique opportunity to frame quality investment outcomes for NZ companies and regional opportunities for the benefit of the wider New Zealand economy. A high degree of commercial acumen and strategic agility is required to create unique relationships across the private and public sector, including domestic and international government and trade relationships. Strong technical capabilities to originate, progress and transact on deals will also be critical to the success of the role. To be successful in this role, we seek a tertiary qualified investment professional with significant experience in investment banking/capital markets and ideally with an international business background that will compliment domestic industry gravitas.
