- Build an Engaged Culture
Landcare Research – Manaaki Whenua is the Crown Research Institute tasked with helping New Zealand to understand and live in harmony with our land, Aotearoa. Our research spans the country and is focussed around four key areas: Our Environment, Our Biodiversity, Our Biosecurity and Our Land. This research covers some of the greatest questions facing New Zealanders today like global warming, species extinction, water use, and creating a predator free New Zealand. Yet, most New Zealanders have never even heard of Landcare Research.
Last year the LR Board and Executive team commissioned a project to create a paradigm shift in the way we engage with New Zealanders. Our new Brand and Story is a result of this work, and we are now ready to build our team, put our strategy into action and start sharing our stories with all New Zealanders. We have some exciting projects ahead from launching a new brand to refreshing our digital experience, and we have some great new roles to add to our small but passionate team.
In an organisation of 350, staying connected and being aware of the huge range of work at Landcare Research is a real challenge. As a member of the newly created team and reporting to the Communications Manager, this role will develop and deliver a strong internal communications strategy in order to build an aligned and engaged culture. Key responsibilities include:
- The management of internal communications channels
- Responsibility for the intranet ensuring all content is fresh and up to date
- Manage the delivery of regular 2-way communications
- Working closely with the People and Culture team to develop and execute a culture strategy.
Candidates of interest will have a relevant qualification along with at least 5 years’ experience in an internal communications role, preferably in a science based organisation. Highly developed editorial and communication skills are essential including the use of various channels for effective internal engagement. You will also have experience developing programmes to build organisational culture.
This is a unique role offering the opportunity to lead an internal communications strategy and to drive internal engagement.
