EQC is a crown entity with a mission to reduce the impact of natural disasters on people and property. The Commission supports people in their greatest hour of need when dealing with natural disasters like earthquakes, floods and landslips, funds and facilitates research to build understanding of natural disasters and helps educate New Zealanders on how to prepare for and mitigate damage from natural disasters.
The role of Head of Communications and Engagement is no “business as usual” job. You will be working with a newly aligned executive leadership team in a dynamic environment as the organisation reshapes itself for the future.
As the leader, you will help guide and support the communications and engagement team to deliver consistent communications across all channels and disciplines, including stakeholder engagement, media and internal communications, among others. You will also have a high level of capability in developing and leading crisis communications in the event of an emergency.
Your views will be sought and valued at the top table as EQC focuses on the future and takes a proactive approach with its external and internal communications.
To be successful in this role you will have significant experience in senior roles where you have led strategy and contributed at Board and CEO level. Sound judgment and political nous are pre-requisites as you will be working with Ministers and government officials.
This role reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and could be Wellington or Christchurch based.
