  • Invercargill based

Alliance Group is New Zealand’s only 100% farmer owned red meat co-operative, supplied by skilled and passionate Kiwi farmers. Established in 1948 Alliance Group is one of New Zealand’s largest exporters employing 4,700 staff during the peak of the season and operating seven processing plants throughout the South and lower North Islands.  Alliance Group is currently part way through a major organisational transformation that will build a stronger co‑operative for its farmer shareholders by maximising operational efficiency and capturing more market value.

The strategy to transform the business is underpinned by a strong commitment to achieving a world class performance in health and safety.  While there has been a significant improvement in its health and safety performance, including a significant investment in people and technology, there is still a long way to go to achieve that goal.  The company has recently completed a review of its safety structure and capability and as a result is expanding the scope of the leadership responsibility for health and safety. With a highly supportive Board and Executive Leadership Team, this enhanced leadership role will continue the drive for excellence in health and safety across the whole organisation.

The successful candidate will have an expert understanding of H&S; demonstrated success using a modern and sustainable approach; along with experience leading large scale transformational change. Leading staff across multiple sites, you will be experienced in large and complex environments, preferably from within a manufacturing/heavy industry/high hazard environment.  You will be a practical, collaborative person with strong influencing and communication skills and able to develop trusting relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

This key senior health and safety leadership role represents a rare opportunity to develop, implement and lead an enduring health and safety culture in one of New Zealands’ largest companies.
