Work type:

Our GP practices in Westport, Reefton, Greymouth and Franz Josef have various locum positions available through to next Winter. Some of these positions are to cover leave and others until we source a permanent GP.

Each of our practices offer different things and are flexible to be part-time or full-time. A competitive session rate, fully furnished accommodation and return domestic travel is covered, as well as access to a Practice vehicle.

Westport offers a mix of primary and secondary care as it has a seven bed hospital located on the same site as the GP practice. Ideally you would be willing to participate in the on-call ED roster when working here which is one night per week and a part weekend in five. Experienced GP's and Nurses will be your support during your locum. Ideal for GP's with ED experience. Westport has daily direct flights to Wellington, is 90 minutes from Greymouth and three hours from Christchurch.

Reefton looking for a GP to work ten sessions or two GP's as a job-share. No on call (unless you want it) and you'll be supported by a team of Rural Nurse Specialists. There is a rest home attached to this practice which require a daily morning round two hours from Nelson and three hours from Christchurch. A welcoming community with an outdoor lifestyle.

Greymouth, the busiest and largest of the West Coast clinics. There is an on call roster that runs until 8pm, but as Greymouth has a separate hospital with an ED it is less demanding than Westport on call. Greymouth is three hours drive from Christchurch, 90 minutes to Westport and 30 minutes to Hokitika which has daily direct flights to Christchurch. Beaches, fishing, kayaking and close proximity to the Arthur's Pass ski fields attract GP's to this area.

Franz Josef, two GP's work at this Practice, based in the stunning Franz Josef township. A great way to see the South Westland region as you'll support the smaller rural community clinics from HariHari to Haast. Located in Glacier Country, this location is hard to beat as you're surrounded by mountains, lakes (and glaciers!). A team of Rural Nurse Specialists do on-call, meaning you don't have to!

Rural practices will give you more variety and exposure than Urban practices and with national parks, coastline, rivers, lakes, mountains and glaciers you'll struggle to find a place that offers more scenic beauty and outdoor activities.

Let us know when you are available, be it one week or six months+ and also where you would prefer to work. Apply via this advert or get in touch by emailing john.ray@cdhb.health.nz
