McAlpines Mitre 10 MEGA Rangiora, which is part of the wider McAlpine business, is a member of the nationwide Mitre 10 Group, New Zealand’s largest home improvement and garden retailer, and trade supplier.  They place a strong focus on customer service and staff training and are committed to providing the inspiration, advice, tools and materials their retail and trade customers require.  The pending retirement of the current, long serving General Manager provides an opportunity for an aspiring executive manager to assume the role.

The General Manager has full accountability for the leadership and management of this significant retail and trade business which currently employs 110 people.  The role reports to and works closely with the CE with direct responsibility for the implementation and delivery of operational business plans.  Ensuring the ongoing growth and profitability of the business through strong, effective people and business leadership and the ability to achieve agreed financial and other business targets is a critical responsibility.  The role combines autonomy and accountability for the full range of operational business management disciplines and will also be expected to contribute strategically.

We are looking for a modern, highly motivated, executive manager with experience in a relevant retail/trade environment.  This experience is likely to include merchandising, marketing, supply, financial management and culture development.  The proven ability to achieve agreed growth, revenue and profit targets in a competitive market environment is essential.  You will have a vital, engaging personality and be able to demonstrate the ability to relate and interact effectively with both customers (retail and trade) and staff.  The ability to provide effective leadership and encourage the professional development of staff is a core requirement.

This is a critical appointment for the ongoing growth and development of McAlpines Mitre 10 MEGA Rangiora.  A remuneration package reflecting the level and responsibility of this position (including a significant results based incentive component) will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
