General Manager – Americas and Europe

New Zealand is the ultimate tourist destination. Tourism New Zealand’s role is to make sure that the world knows it. We do this by developing and implementing strategies to market New Zealand as a tourism destination internationally. Our purpose is to grow the value of international visitors for the benefit of the New Zealand economy. This is achieved by developing and implementing marketing, media, trade, and partnership strategies working co-operatively with our offices around the world and the travel industry.
What will you be doing
This is a pivot role leading Tourism New Zealand’s, North and South America and European market teams and contributing to the leadership of the organisation. Reporting to the Director Commercial, you will be responsible for the development of the marketing mix for our America’s and European markets. You will be accountable for a team of 27 FTE’s and the full marketing mix for promoting New Zealand as a visitor destination, and be the voice back into the New Zealand industry.
With your great track record in developing and managing effective relationships and networks to grow a business, you will be able to contribute effectively to an executive team, and provide grounded advice about the tourism industry - specifically in relation to America’s and UK/Europe markets.
What we want from you
We need an inspiring and experienced senior leader who can think strategically, and then operationalise strategy, who can demonstrate commercial acumen, and who thrives in a busy and challenging environment. You will need extensive hands on senior marketing experience ideally with in a range of organisations (preferably international) and have a good working knowledge of New Zealand. The role requires significant travel through the region and the ability to lead and manage a team that is geographically disbursed.
