Development West Coast (DWC) is an independent Trust, established to foster sustainable economic growth and employment opportunities throughout the West Coast region. DWC’s support falls into three main areas – business development and enablement, commercial finance, and regional economic development, assisting numerous businesses throughout the region and optimising long term strategic returns from its perpetual fund.The passion and commitment of the Governance Group has led to an Action Plan developed by the region for the region, made up of a number of individual project plans for each prioritised action.
As a member of the executive team and reporting to the newly appointed CEO, the key focus of this role is to deliver on the Action Plan. Leading a small team, you will position the region as an attractive place to live, work, do business, invest, study and visit through the identification, development and provision of district and regional strategies, plans, projects and initiatives.
Key elements to success in this role will include a forward-thinking approach in promoting the regional vision, developing strategic alliances, engaging and building trust with the region’s many communities, and to encourage economic growth, tourism and business development.
We seek commercially savvy candidates with proven experience in programme/project management, who have a track record of delivery, along with exceptional leadership and organisational skills. An economic development background is desirable, and demonstrated success cultivating stakeholder relationships with local/central government, iwi, industry and business development specialists is essential.
