This is an international leadership role where you will be responsible for growing New Zealand exports into this vibrant Asian Tiger economy. We are looking for a commercially focussed person who can lead our team of local business development managers, deal with local market complexities and deliver great results.

What you’ll be doing:  

As our Director - New Zealand Trade Development Centre in Taipei, you will lead a dedicated team of business development managers who help NZTE’s customers tap into a range of opportunities. Taiwan is our eighth largest trading partner and the Agreement between NZ and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu on Economic Cooperation gives New Zealand exporters an advantage.    We are looking for someone who can inspire, coach and motivate a team to deliver outstanding results for our customers in the market.  You will also build strong partnerships and use your influencing skills to leverage key strategic relationships to open up new opportunities.  As part of the Greater China Leadership team, you will play a significant role in implementing NZTE’s strategic goals across the region. This role will be based in the New Zealand Trade Development Centre in Taipei.


What you’ll need to be successful:  

You will need to be able to lead strategic conversations with companies and understand the complexities for the Taiwan commercial operating environment. Ideally you have a background in one of the following sectors: food and beverage, technology and/or manufacturing and current business networks in Taiwan or across Greater China would be an advantage. Leadership is key and you will need to demonstrate the steps you have taken to build your strong leadership capability and experience.  You will be excited to be part of growing New Zealand’s economy. As a confident communicator, you will be able to build strong partnerships and use your influencing skills to grow key networks and leverage strategic relationships to open new opportunities for New Zealand companies.
