As the principal transport advisor to the government, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) provides policy advice and support to Ministers to improve the performance of New Zealand's transport system and related Crown entities such as the Civil Aviation Authority and New Zealand Transport Agency. The Ministry also manages the government's investment into transport, provides advice on legislation and represents New Zealand's international interests in maritime and aviation affairs.

In a rapidly changing transport environment, the MOT needs to remain on top of its obligations, be across current and future developments and continue to meet the expectations of its stakeholders. Nowhere is this more pertinent than in Auckland. The Ministry needs to play an influential role in shaping and improving the transport system so that it works well for businesses, residents and visitors; and supports Auckland's future economic development. To do this, we need senior Auckland based capability within the strategy and policy function.

As a trusted aide and advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide thought leadership and expert policy advice - comfortably working across complex projects and movable agendas.  You will confidently drive strategy and use your considerable engagement skills to determine outcomes and set realistic deliverables. To be successful at this level, you will have extensive policy development experience and will have worked across government with both Ministers and agencies to influence and achieve desirable outcomes. Your excellent relationship management and communication skills enable you to connect with relevance, engage effectively with key stakeholders and talk persuasively about required results.

The Ministry is committed to reshaping and redefining itself so it remains a critical infrastructure partner in New Zealand. For this commitment to be realised in a timely and successful manner, it needs people capability and intelligent influencers - if you believe you have the required energy and experience and are interested in the opportunity to make true change, please send your CV to CV@rothley.co.nz.

Alternatively, contact Kate Murdoch on 021 721 702 or Bridget Vaney on (04) 280 8412 or to confidentially discuss the opportunity further.
