Would you like to play a part in New Zealand’s efforts to make a difference in developing countries?

The New Zealand Aid Programme is the New Zealand Government’s international aid and development programme.  It supports sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and contribute to a more secure, equitable and prosperous world.

The Development Manager – Energy role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping and delivering New Zealand’s international engagement in supporting the development of a significant portfolio of renewable energy and energy access projects in the Pacific and targeted assistance for other regions of the world.

The successful candidate will understand the key challenges facing developing countries and the role that effective development assistance plays in supporting sustainable economic development.   Specifically, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the energy sector in developing countries, renewable energy technologies and network issues. A knowledge of private sector investment, energy policy and regulation and institutional issues would be an advantage.

The competencies required to be successful include a strong intellect (demonstrated by complex analysis and strategic acumen), being a skilled relationship builder, and having superior judgement, combined with a track record in developing and managing projects to deliver intended results.

We are looking for strong written, analytical, strategic thinking, planning and project management skills.  Candidates should also have experience in writing high quality briefings and submissions for senior decision makers and Ministers within tight timeframes.

The successful candidate will work with government and industry stakeholders and be expected to travel within the Pacific and potentially to countries outside of the Pacific.

Please note you must have NZ Citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government Security Clearance.
