Use your commercial experience to help grow New Zealand companies internationally bigger, better and faster for the good of New Zealand. The successful candidate for this role will be based in Auckland – however some travel through the adjacent regions will be necessary.
Who we are:
NZTE is New Zealand's international business development agency. Existing for one purpose – to grow New Zealand business internationally. The Customer Manager in this role will develop strong relationships with our Māori customers with a diverse portfolio of businesses in varied industries.
What you’ll be doing:
Working in the Auckland office your team will be based in the main centres of New Zealand. Your Māori customers will be growth focused exporters, at a mature stage of their export journey and you will be engaging with them to plan and deliver a work programme which will strengthen their confidence and capability to export internationally. To build a work program together you will need to have a collaborative and outcomes focused working style. Additionally, you will need the ability to be a problem solver and connect your customers to the right experts to address challenges and raise opportunities. Experience in a New Zealand company that has exported internationally would be advantageous.
What you’ll need to be successful:
You will be enthusiastic, a strong communicator and have the ability to not only build rapport but develop strong and trusted relationships. You will have a deep understanding of the Māori culture, customs, values and the way they run their businesses. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and connect with the broader NZTE team will be paramount. You will possess passion and energy to help Māori businesses succeed on the global stage. The successful person for this role will need to be truly customer centric, that means you will really understand your customers' opportunities and challenges. You will have specialist Māori commercial know-how and know-who, to understand and engage with a broad range of Māori customers, to help them reach their international growth aspirations. This will be done by connecting to our Māori customers with empathy, credibility and commercial reality.
