This key role, which reports to the Chief Executive and is part of the Leadership Team, has direct responsibility for identifying, developing and directing commercial business strategies across Port Otago’s activities. Customers and business partners are inextricably linked and critical to the business. The development of a customer focused culture ensuring that customers’ current and identified future requirements are clearly identified and met is a key objective of this role. Efficiency, improvement, cost reduction and adding commercial value to customers and partners in the supply chain will be core focuses in this role.
It is expected that applicants for this leadership level commercial management role could come from a range of industry backgrounds. You will need to possess the following attributes:
- High level commercial management experience gained in a relevant, competitive, environment where customers are at the centre of the business.
- Proven sales, business development and negotiation skills.
- A strong, practical understanding of supply chain management.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well-developed relationship skills and a highly collaborative working style.
- The ability to contribute strategically as a member of the Leadership Team.
This role provides the opportunity for an experienced commercial manager or an aspiring, driven commercial professional to contribute directly to the development and performance of Port Otago. The appointee will work closely with the CE and the Board. Career development opportunities are likely to be available based on strong performance. The level and importance of this role within the company will be reflected in the remuneration package.
