Operating since 1926 and located in Hamilton, Braemar Hospital is one of New Zealand’s leading private surgical hospitals, delivering the very highest standard of care and access to over one hundred of New Zealand’s finest medical specialists.  The hospital invests in state-of-the-art technology and facilities and is about to commence a significant facilities expansion programme. Braemar is known for its national leadership in world class cancer care and other areas of speciality. It offers eleven operating rooms, 85 beds, and both day and inpatient surgical and non-surgical services across an increasing number of medical specialties.  The ‘Braemar Way’ is about finding quality solutions for all patients’ care and health intervention needs, whilst ensuring an exceptional experience for every patient, specialist and visitor to the hospital.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Chief Operating Officer will lead the day-to-day operations of the hospital, ensuring that operational targets are met whilst maintaining a profitable business delivering quality outcomes. Maintaining relationships and long term partnerships with specialists and clinicians is critical, as is leading a team culture that delivers the very best patient outcomes. Suitable candidates will have aspiration and the capability for Chief Executive leadership in the near future.

  • Senior leadership experience within a dynamic and intensely customer-service focused setting.
  • Proven team building and leadership skills to ensure progressive and innovative patient care.
  • Demonstrated commercial business acumen and business planning skills.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and delegation skills.
  • An understanding of the critical dynamics of a progressive private hospital business model.
