Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO) works for a fair, just and caring community through the provision of care for Otago’s older people, supporting families in need and delivering programmes for young adults and children.  Motivated by its Christian heritage and in partnership with others, PSO works across the generations for positive change, strong families and healthy communities. In fulfilling its mission, PSO endeavours to act with faith, compassion, respect, integrity, courage and independence.

This vacancy arises following the planned retirement of the long serving and respected Chief Executive.  Reporting to a professional Board, the new Chief Executive will build on the legacy of strategic, financial and operational success supported by dedicated employees and volunteers.  Beyond the leadership, people management and growth focus required, the Chief Executive will retain strong relationships with stakeholders and play an advocacy role based on PSO’s understanding of community needs.  Key objectives will be to enhance relationships, build new partnerships, further develop cultural competency and work force capability and to ensure business sustainability for mission impact.

Candidates will possess a proven track record of success working at a senior leadership level in a complex multi-site organisation, ideally within the health/social service sector.  Well-developed financial acumen, strategic thinking ability and relationship management skills are essential.  The appointee will build strong sector networks and show leadership through interaction with government, the public sector, funding agencies, Iwi, NGOs and communities.  A rare combination of skills, experience and approach is sought to effectively lead this unique and large scale organisation.

An affinity with Christian values and the ability to embody the organisations values are also prerequisites for this rewarding role.
