Aurora Energy Ltd (Aurora) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dunedin City Holdings Ltd, owned by Dunedin City Council. Employing around 100 staff and with assets of approx. $530m, Aurora is New Zealand’s seventh-largest electricity distributor, delivering electricity supply to more than 87,000 homes, farms and businesses throughout Dunedin and Central Otago. Aurora owns the electricity network assets and is responsible for ensuring that the network is effectively planned, managed, operated and maintained. Aurora contracts Delta Utility Services Ltd to carry out work on the network.
Reporting to an independent Board, the CEO will be responsible for driving Aurora’s performance and creating long term value for the shareholder (Dunedin City Holdings Ltd). The CEO will focus on ensuring that asset reliability and safety are firmly established as being at the forefront of Aurora’s culture and will also ensure that Aurora has a proactive approach to developing and delivering its long term Asset Management strategy and plan. Enabling a high performance environment - both internally and as a principle with contracted partners - the CEO will be comfortable working in a highly regulated industry, and excited by the opportunity to respond to changes in the sector – driven by disruptive technology and changing consumer behaviour.
Applicants will be proven leaders and possess significant energy sector and asset management experience, supported by a tertiary qualification. Highly commercial, candidates will demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, risk management and relationship management skills along with the ability to lead change, drive performance and embed a strong values driven culture.
