Kiwifruit Vine Health Inc’s (KVH) vision and purpose is the development of a biosecurity resilient kiwifruit industry.  Established in 2010 to lead the industry response to the Psa incursion, KVH now manages biosecurity prevention strategies, readiness and response, industry engagement and advocacy, and in partnership with Zespri deliver a world class innovation and research programme.  KVH is an industry body, accountable to its members for delivering biosecurity value and economic value through regular grower communication, industry and regulator partnerships, as well as influence, thought leadership, innovation and operational incursion readiness.  KVH works closely with individual growers, Zespri, New Zealand Kiwifruit Growers Inc, MPI, and the post-harvest and associated industries.   

The CEO will lead the strategy for the organisation, ensuring its ongoing development to assist in creating a robust future for the industry.  Reporting to the Board, the CEO will ensure KVH provides support to positively impact on sector profitability and sustainability.  Managing key stakeholder relationships, industry communications and ensuring the strategic positioning of KVH to best advantage from a biosecurity, research and advisory perspective, make this a stimulating and vital role in a major export sector.  The role is based in Mount Maunganui.

The CEO will have proven ability to build and maintain productive working relationships and networks with diverse stakeholders.  An understanding of, and empathy for, the demands faced by growers is essential, as is an understanding of biosecurity risk and management.  This is a dynamic and growth industry and the role requires a person with a consistent outlook of future possibilities.

·                Ability to influence and lead policy, ideally within the primary sector.

·                An ability to effectively assess and manage biosecurity risk.

·                Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to provide effective representation and advocacy.

·                A capable strategist with visionary leadership skills.

·                Likely to have proven credibility and influence with relevant government agencies and commercial organisations.

This is a broad based, stimulating leadership role for an experienced primary industry leader who is passionate about biosecurity and has the attitude that is consistent with a dynamic growth industry.
