South Port New Zealand Ltd is the southernmost commercial deep water port in New Zealand and is listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX). Located in Bluff, South Port is situated in the highly productive province of Southland which is responsible for producing a sizeable proportion of New Zealand’s total exports by value. The port handles approximately three million tonnes of import and export cargo a year and employs 120 staff. South Port provides a full range of marine services, cargo and container shipping, on-site warehousing and an intermodal freight centre.
Reporting to the Board the CEO is accountable for the leadership and performance of the company. The current long serving CEO leaves a legacy of quality customer service and relationships, strong financial performance and a capable team. To deliver ongoing growth the new CEO will continue to provide customised solutions to customers to meet their needs and partner with them to achieve their operational objectives. The CEO will lead a strategically well-positioned business critical to the economy and communities of Southland.
The diversity of CEO activities including long-term strategic decision making, senior operational team leadership, customer relationship development, contract negotiations, innovative solution development and regional value creation in an increasingly competitive freight market are appealing features of the role.
