Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is New Zealand’s globally-minded capital city university, with a growing Student Campus and Living division that includes Campus Living, Early Childhood and Community Services, University Accommodation, and Sport and Recreation (University Recreation Wellington). The role of Associate Director, Commercial & Finance has been created to fill a gap in the commercial and financial approach to the operations of the Student Campus and Living business unit.
Reporting to the Director, Student and Campus Living, the Associate Director, Commercial & Finance will optimise the financial health and stability of the Student Campus and Living business unit, with a focus on student accommodation. This will involve working closely with other Associate Directors to ensure operations and activities are looked at through a commercial lens. You will develop a financially sustainable strategy that is supported by robust business planning, budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting. Your financial modelling, analysis and pricing skills will support capital projects and emerging business opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant and have a background in commercial property and financial leadership. In addition, you will have expert commercial nous and insight and strong analytical and influencing skills. Because of the internal and external environment in which this role operates, strong listening and documentation skills are required, as is a good sense of humour and a collegial approach.
