Work Party & Meat (& Veg) Pies at the Seattle Arboretum

Work Party & Meat (& Veg) Pies at the Seattle Arboretum
The Seattle Christchurch Sister City Association will be returning to the Washington Park Arboretum to help maintain the New Zealand Forest on Saturday, October 24. The work party will be from 9 a.m.—noon, and then we will have meat pies and beer to thank everyone who came out to volunteer! We will be joined by a special guest, Aidan Lang, the General Director of the Seattle Opera. He has been looking forward to seeing the New Zealand Forest and connecting with SCSCA, so this is the perfect opportunity for him. The project will consist of weeding and mulching. In addition to providing valuable support to the Arboretum, the work party is a great way to see how the New Zealand Forest is doing and find out what the challenges and successes have been over the past two years. We’ll be working with the gardener for the New Zealand Forest, Kathleen DeMaria, and she’s always eager to share her knowledge. The minimum age for this event is 14. The RSVP deadline is Wednesday, October 14 so we can order the correct number of meat pies. Confirmation details will be emailed to participants on Friday, October 16.
