The University of Auckland Business School Dean's Distinguished Speaker Series; Neal Ashkanasy
Come hear Neal Ashkanasy, Professor of Management at the UQ Business School at the University of Queensland, discuss his research into the role emotional intelligence plays in the workplace.
Managing emotions in the workplace: An essential challenge for managers
Emotions in workplace settings, and especially emotional intelligence, are hot topics in management today and regularly feature in leading business journals such as Fortune and Harvard Business Review. But there is more to emotions in the workplace than just emotional intelligence.
In this talk, Professor Neal Ashkanasy will introduce intriguing new research that examines both emotional intelligence and the broader issue of emotion, which has been shown to play a powerful role in workplace settings. This research has strong potential for practical application in many human resource functions such as selection, performance management, and training. It also has implications for narrow domains like customer service.
Professor Ashkanasy will discuss how the study of emotions has provided important insights into the way people behave, and he will offer advice to help managers develop and maintain positive emotional climates in their organisations.
