The Great Game is thought-provoking, funny and inspirational film. Jon Beardmore’s infectious optimism and can-do attitude open up a part of the world wrongly written off as too remote, too forbidding or too damned dangerous. If this documentary doesn’t make you want to go and see for yourself what’s out there then you don’t deserve a passport. - Mark C

M-Wines Wine Tasting
Enjoy a short presentation on Kiwi owned M-Wines including a free glass of wine on arrival and an opportunity to taste several other wines. The wines will be available to buy by the glass and bottle during the evening.
M-Wines are the ‘dream wines’ of talented young winemakers, the wine they could never make in the day job, but have always wanted to make. They are Limited Editions of 1,000 individually numbered bottles; each bottle is a ‘one off’ with the winemakers name on the bottle plus a short biography telling their story. "Whilst promoting wines at the London Art Fair, I found that collectors were more interested in the winemaker’s story than the wine itself. I decided commission talented winemakers to make their own ‘dream wine’ and to tell their stories” In 2015 a Growers range was added – telling the story of the grape growers behind some fabulous everyday wines. - Philip Morton

The Great Game - 30,000 Miles Across Central Asia
The story of the film originated from my first trip to Afghanistan in 2009. As a member of the first cricket team to tour Afghanistan and play the Afghanistan national side in Kabul. First hand I witnessed the positive nature of the Afghan people and the power of sport to bring change to a challenging part of the world. I knew immediately that after this trip I would return one day.
Afghan Connection played a pivotal role behind the scenes to enable the 2009 trip to occur. It was this connection along with the wonderful work they do in Afghanistan, both in education and cricket, that has inspired the charitable arm of The Great Game film project.
I fell in love with Afghanistan on my first visit. The second visit only strengthened those feelings. Once you get to know the real Afghanistan you will too.
– Jon Beardmore
100% of profits from this film are going to the charity Afghan Connection to support education and cricket in Afghanistan.
‘Jon, I am so impressed by your enthusiasm and energy and by your spirit and the joy you obviously brought to so many on your journey. You are an inspiration. I also love the way you are challenging perspectives of areas of the world on which people have made huge assumptions and yet know very little.’
– Dr Sarah Fane MBChB – CEO & Founder of Afghan Connection
