On the last Thursday of every month, we invite craft breweries to the Tate Modern Bar to showcase a selection of beers with a range of tastings, talks and activities.
For the first time in Tate Modern’s Tap Takeover history, April’s event will branch out from British-only breweries. Coinciding with Anzac Day, a mix of three New Zealand and three Australian breweries will be bringing one of their signature beers to serve at the Terrace Bar taps. The event will be a lively celebration, with the best of Antipodean independent craft beer, food and music fuelling the night.
Experience the beers to a soundtrack of down under classics provided by New Zealand born DJ Lotion. Having spent his time in the UK, New Zealand and Australia, DJ Lotion will give a true representation of the music scene from the southern hemisphere.
Expect a delicious food offering inspired by both countries. The Australian food offering will transport guests to Bondi beach with a take on the ‘classic shrimp on the barbie’ of king prawn skewers and traditional staples such as well-loved lamingtons; cakes dipped in chocolate and liberally sprinkled with fine desiccated coconut. To represent the Kiwis, there will be lamb chop lollies. Guests will also be encouraged to try some of the free Anzac biscuits. These iconic biscuits were originally made to send to the Anzac's serving in Gallipoli.
Anzac Day is the solemn day of remembrance of those Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who have fought and died for their country, and is marked annually on the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War.
