Brooklyn based Indie Folk band from New Zealand.
You may recognise a few faces in Brooklyn-based family band Streets of Laredo, primarily Dave Gibson - a household name in New Zealand thanks to his role as frontman in power-pop band Elemeno P. He’s joined by brother Dan - also notably the voice of indie-pop band Kingston, wife Sarahjane and honourary family members Si Moore and Tom Darlow. Named after the legendary cowboy ballad, Streets of Laredo also delve into folk-country territory through a combination of eerie washed-out guitars, harmonica and sparse but thumping drums.
The band’s debut EP, the first of two volumes to be released one month apart, is a collection of five vocal-driven tracks with an undeniable connection to their new American home. Infectious first single ‘Girlfriend’, which took out first prize in the Adult Album Alternative category of Nashville's Unsigned Only Awards, talks of a newfound relationship with the lady herself - New York City, while opening track ‘Everything To Everyone’ touches on developing a new life abroad.
