New Zealand Youth Choir in Oxford

New Zealand Youth Choir in Oxford

On Sunday, 10 July at 7.30pm the members of the choir will perform the first concert in its UK tour in Oxford University Church. The choir will be travelling with an eclectic repertoire of music ranging from the 17th-century anthem ‘Ecce vicit leo’ by Peter Phillips, Mendelssohn’s ‘Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe’, Shakespeare settings by Vaughan Williams and Matthew Harris through to contemporary New Zealand music by David Hamilton and Tuirina Wehi.

Of all New Zealand’s musical icons, the New Zealand Youth Choir with its members aged 18 to 25 has, more than any other, showcased the country’s youth and music in its 36-year history. The European Tour in 2016 will be the Choir’s 11th overseas trip and its 5th visit to the UK.
