The Asia New Zealand Foundation is offering up to 10 New Zealand business leaders and entrepreneurs the opportunity to attend the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Summit in Kuala Lumpur in August 2015.
Successful applicants will join attend the summit with previous participants in the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative (YBLI) – a group of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders from Southeast Asia.
About the summit
Dates: 23-25 August
Business leaders and entrepreneurs from New Zealand and Southeast Asia will discuss business opportunities and build networks between their countries’ business communities.
The summit is part of the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative (YBLI). YBLI is a government initiative created to facilitate trade and strengthen business links between ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and New Zealand.
To date, 46 business leaders from ASEAN’s 10 member countries have visited New Zealand through YBLI. This summit forms part of the initiative’s second phase, which will take New Zealand business leaders and entrepreneurs to Southeast Asia.
The summit is being offered by the Asia New Zealand Foundation and the New Zealand High Commission in Malaysia.
Sunday 23 August – formal dinner that will include high-level New Zealand Government representation
Monday 24 August – full-day summit where you will learn more about the business environment in Southeast Asia, and the challenges and opportunities entrepreneurs in the region face. The programme will also feature two two keynote speakers – one from New Zealand and one from Southeast Asia.
Tuesday 25 August - group activity.
The Foundation will cover most participants’ costs, including economy airfares, domestic transport, accommodation, insurance and visa costs. Most meals and other miscellaneous costs will also be covered.
Who can apply?
To apply, you must be:
aged under 40
a New Zealand business leader at CEO/senior management level or an emerging leader; OR a member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Leadership Network who has been involved with the YBLI project previously or who is an emerging leaders in business
a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
interested in connecting with equivalents from other countries and in exploring international business opportunities
a confident public speaker willing to engage in dialogue with entrepreneurs from other countries.
Applications from business leaders who are currently based offshore will be considered.
If selected, applicants who are not yet members of the Foundation’s Leadership Network should be willing to apply for membership and contribute to network activities.
You DO NOT need to have visited Malaysia previously or speak Bahasa Malaysian to apply for this opportunity.
